Letter to Patients: Recare Hygiene Appointment Reopen Plan – June 11th, 2020

Dear Patients and Friends of Deerwater,

We are excited to announce the wait is over and we are ready to see you again!

At Deerwater Dental Wellness, our priority has always been on Complete Health Dentistry – the
mouth is a gateway to your body. Gum disease (and other issues) in the mouth affects the body;
disease in the body affects the mouth. Our concern is the delay in your oral wellness care is
affecting not only your mouth health, but your overall body health. We also understand the
concerns for safety, not only for you, but for other patients and our team as well.

Covid-19 has given us an opportunity to enhance our Hygiene Recare Program to really be
effective in treating gum disease and decrease risks to other diseases in the body.

As this virus won’t be going away anytime soon, we want to help you and your loved ones strengthen your immunity and prevent disease! We’ve made it available to our patients who want to be on top of
their health: Saliva Testing and PerioProtect®.

The newest research shows that hydrogen peroxide is effective in killing viruses and other tiny, harmful bacteria in the mouth. It does not cause bacterial resistance. On the contrary, it creates an unfavourable environment for “bad” bacteria to grow but a favourable one, for the “good” bacteria to populate. Gums become healthier, thus decreasing the inflammation in the mouth and body. For our regular patients, PerioProtect® is simply a home care system where you wear custom-made, comfortable trays 1-2 times a day for 10-15 minutes. To not further impact your health with the delayed care and to continue to be safe in the transition back from Covid -19, an appointment for Saliva Testing can be made immediately, as well as to evaluate your suitability for PerioProtect® tray therapy and other treatment to address harmful oral biofilm.

If you have already booked for a Recare Hygiene appointment, the nature of your appointment will not change but the approach may change to minimize aerosol and optimize safety while keeping you healthy. If you are already on tray therapy, your appointment approach will not be affected.
