Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth and also provide excellent support and stability to dental prosthetics, such as dentures.
There may be many reasons for dental implants: Replacing missing teeth, Restoring and enhancing chewing, speech and digestion, resolving TMD or adding support to your jaw functional structure, Securing and stabilizing removable dentures and enhancing patient’s comfort and confidence.
Dental implants are artificial roots and teeth (usually titanium) that are surgically placed into the upper or lower jaw bone. The teeth attached to implants are natural looking and often enhance or restore a patient’s smile! They are strong and durable.
The process of getting implants usually requires a number of visits over several months. At Deerwater Dental Wellness, we aim to restore and enhance your smile in harmony with your body. Prior to placement of the dental implant, our assessment also looks at the root cause of why the natural tooth failed in the first place because the original reason may compromise the stability and longevity of any replacement tooth.
Accurate data is taken, analyzed and planned out to achieve a high degree of accuracy on the day of implant placement procedure. Healing and integration of the bone around the implant usually takes up to six months. After the healing period, new artificial teeth will be securely attached to the implant.
Because the titanium in the implants fuses with your jawbone, the implants will not slip, make noise or cause bone damage the way fixed bridgework or dentures might. The materials cannot decay like your own teeth.
Good oral hygiene and eating habits, alongside regular dental visits for preventative care, will aid in the life of your dental implant.
