FAQ: Does it whiten my fillings and crowns too?
In general, teeth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel. Our Kor whitening system can lighten your old composite fillings to a degree, but it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. which can be done after whitening so they will match the newly whitened teeth.
How long does it last? Most patients do not need to touch up for several years, but others may want a little touch-up monthly to maintain optimum results depending on your habits in consuming coffee, tea, red wine or tobacco.
I experienced a lot of sensitivity before. Is this any different? Yes. Most of our patients experience none to mild sensitivity. Some mild sensitivity is normal and transitional during whitening. We use preventative protocols to avoid and minimize sensitivity. We will monitor you closely and help you address any sensitivity if it occurs. The sensitivity generally subsides shortly after the whitening is over.
How long does it take? It depends on the degree and type of staining and desired level of whitening. The first appointment involves taking impressions (mould) of your teeth to fabricate custom plastic trays. Subsequent appointments can vary from 2 - 3 conditioning appointments and an in-office deep whitening treatment.
