More About
TMJ and TMD Dentistry

The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) is one of the most complex joints of the body. TMJ and TMD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) dentistry is multifactorial. TMD Symptoms may manifest in many different ways including: Headaches or migraines, Jaw pain or noises, Neck pain, Pain when chewing, Teeth grinding or clenching, Limited mouth opening, Ear pain, Snoring, Sleep apnea. 4% of the population may have no noticeable symptoms.

At Deerwater Dental Wellness, we help adults and children living with these TMD symptoms get well in a systematic and non-invasive way. You will not be stuck with the pain for life.

Dr. Wang has developed a treatment approach called S.O.S. Tx for TMD and Chronic Pain which aims at breaking the vicious cycle of stress triggers and enhance the body's ability to handle these various stressors. Stress triggers may include psychological and physical destabilizing factors, environmental, orthopedic/structural, habitual stressors and the ones related to a past injury. The S.O.S. Tx for TMD and Chronic Pain* allows the body to restore body hemostasis that leads to tension release.

We understand the complexities of craniofacial pain, sleep disorders, and the oral somatic link. To successfully treat these symptoms, we use a multidisciplinary approach and provide a highly comprehensive examination using the latest knowledge and technologies. The goal is to properly diagnose the root cause - the underlying core problem to a patient’s perpetuating pain.

After proper diagnosis, we triage and prioritize treatment for rehabilitation for each unique patient. In a systematic way, treatment focuses on what the body reflects as the highest priority. In a relatively short time, many people find a significant or complete resolution to their chronic pain.

S.O.S. Tx for TMD and Chronic Pain treatment is gentle, safe and non-invasive. It does not require surgery, needles, direct adjustments or ischemic muscle treatment. The treatment process may require supportive therapy with temporary oral appliances to orthotic appliances to support the healing of the jaw joint function.

Our dentists have completed intensive training and extensive clinical experience in TMJ dysfunction, craniofacial pain, and sleep-disordered breathing. They continue to seek and stay abreast of knowledge and skills to provide the most advanced and effective care to their patients.
